Methodology & citation
What is this?
The AP Grading population report publishes how often each card has been graded by AP Grading and at which grades – as population counts and grade distributions per category, set and single card.
Data basis
All active AP Grading certificates (currently 141,718); voided certificates are excluded. Confirmed spelling variants of the same design are merged canonically via the internal catalogue – the certificate check uses the same logic.
Update cycle
Daily in the early morning from the production database. Every page states its data date ("as of"). Daily snapshots have been archived since 11 Aug 2026.
Thresholds
Dedicated card pages from 5 graded copies (comics: 3), set pages from 50. Below that, gradings are included in set/category totals without an own page.
Grading scale
Cards are graded on a 0.5–10 scale following the published AP grading standard; "A" (Authentic) confirms authenticity without a condition grade. The gem rate is the share of the top grade 10.
Licence & use
All aggregate data is available under CC BY 4.0: reuse and citation are welcome – with attribution "AP Grading Population Report", a link and the data date.
